Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform stable cutting work for a long period of time by ensuring the defect resistance of a PCD layer sufficiently while suppressing the progress of abrasion in a rotary cutting tool with a PCD sinter body.SOLUTION: A PCD layer 3 made of a PCD sinter body is disposed while being sintered integrally with a base material on a wall surface facing a tool rotation direction T of a chip discharge groove 2 formed at a tip part of a tool body 1 whose base material is a hard metal rotated around a shaft line O. On the PCD layer 3, a cutting blade 5 with the wall surface as a rake surface 4 is formed. A margin part 7 continuous to the rear part of the chip discharge groove 2 in the tool rotation direction T is formed in a tip part outer periphery of the tool body 1. The cutting blade 5 is formed in a side ridge part of the tool body 1 tip side of the rake surface 4. A thickness W3 of the PCD layer 3 viewed from the tool body 1 tip side in a shaft line O direction is in a range of 1/3 to 1 times of a width W7 of the margin part 7.
