Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a rotary rectifying device which reduces the number of commutation surge absorbers for a brushless excitation apparatus.
CONSTITUTION: A brushless excitation apparatus is provided with an AC exciter 1 and with a rotary rectifying device 3 which is composed of two-arm semiconductor rectifying elements 4 which are connected to armature windings 2 for the AC exciter 1 and which correspond to the respective armature windings 2 and of commutation surge absorbers 5 which are connected in parallel with the semiconductor rectifying elements 4. In the brushless excitation apparatus, a neutral point 7 is installed in a circuit for the commutation surge absorbers 5, the number of the commutation surge absorbers 5 is made identical to the number of the armature windings, the number of the surge absorbers can be reduced to half as compared with that in conventional cases, and the rotary rectifying device 3 can be made small.
