To provide a route comparing apparatus, a route comparing method and a program that allow comparison of routes and calculate the degrees of coincidence among them even if information on the routes differs in data structure and/or in storage formula.
A route comparing apparatus comprises a geographical point information acquiring unit that acquires information on the starting point and the goal point, a reference route acquiring unit that acquires shape data on a reference route between the starting point and the goal point, a route searching unit that searches for routes between the starting point and the goal point, and a matching degree calculating unit that calculates, by comparing shape data on the searched-for routes from the route searching unit and shape data on the reference route, matching degrees representing the degrees of coincidence among the routes.
