This shooting game apparatus for shooting at a target, includes: a shooting operating device for outputting a shooting signal by a player; an imaging device provided on a gun controller to output the target displayed on a display device as a camera image; a target generating part for reading a template image of the target and outputting the same as a target; an image processing part for detecting coordinates by pattern matching the camera image and the template image of the target; and a relative position information generating part for detecting whether or not a match occurs between a predetermined coordinate on the camera image preset as a sight point of the gun controller and the coordinate of the target detected by the image processing part. In the apparatus, the presentation for the possibility of shooting is displayed on the display device based on the relative position information generated by the relative position information generating part and the shooting operating device.
