To obtain the subject new microorganism comprising soil pollutant decomposing microorganism carrying soil pollutant decomposing gene and having a vector capable of transferring to other microorganism and useful for purification of soil polluted by phenols, etc.
This new soil pollutant decomposing microorganism carries soil pollutant decomposing gene and has a vector having a restriction enzyme map represented by the formula (B,/S is BamHI/Sau3AI; S/B is Sau3AI/BamHI; E is EcoRI; H is Hind III) capable of transferring to other microorganism. By adding the microorganism to soil, the soil pollutant decomposing gene is introduced into a microorganism such as Pseudomonas which primarily lives in soil and the microorganism acquires soil pollutant decomposing ability to enable purification of soil polluted by phenols, etc. The microorganism is obtained by introducing a phenol-decomposing enzyme gene, etc., of Rhizobiaceae sp. 501 strain (FELM P-11778) into Escherichia coli.
