Abstract:

PURPOSE: To remove the coarse particles during operation and to improve the solid- liquid separation efficiency by providing a circulation mechanism in which the raw liquid in a raw liquid vessel is passed through the inside of a ceramic filter and a liquid cyclone and returned to the raw liquid vessel.

CONSTITUTION: A pump 13 is put in operation to introduce the raw liquid in the raw liquid vessel 1 into the ceramic filter 10 through a circulation piping 9, etc. A cross- flow filtration is carried out while the raw liquid is passed through the ceramic filter 2, and the filtrate contg. fine particles is discharged from a filtrate outlet 15. Then the raw liquid 5 flows into the cylindrical part of liquid cyclone 3 with high velocity from the inlet 6 through the circulation piping 11, and a swirl flow is formed and the centrifugal force is generated, so that the particles of large diameter and of large specific gravity are thrown out to the direction of wall and precipitated in the cone part to form slurry. This slurry is discharged from a discharge opening 8 or a tank 8' during the filtrating operation. On the other hand, fine particles are accumulated in the center part of the liquid cyclone 3 with the raw liquid, and overflowed through an outlet 7 and discharged to the raw liquid vessel 1. These operations are repeated and the solid-liquid separation of raw liquid 5 is efficiently carried out.
