PURPOSE: To provide chlorine-contg. polymer stabilized against thermal and actinic degradation by compounding in combination of a sterically hindered amine and a zinc compd. in the absence of other organometallic compd.
CONSTITUTION: 100 pts.wt. (hereinbelow abbreviated as pts.) at least one chlorine-contg. polymer (A), 0.01-3 pts., pref. 0.1-2 pts. sterically hindered amine (B) being a polyalkylpiperidine contg. a croup of formula I (wherein R is H or methyl) and 0.02-4 pts., pref. 0.1-2 pts. org. or inorg. zinc compd. (C) being a zinc salt of a 6-18C phenol or a 5-12C 1,3-diketone of a 1-22C carboxylic acid are compounded. Org. or inorg. calcium, magnesium and/or balium compd., organotin compd., hydrotalcite compd. and a forming agent and a frother are not incorporated. In addition, it is pref. that 0.05-1 pt. 1,3-dicarbonyl compd. (D) of formula II (wherein R1 is a 1-22C alkyl, etc.; R2 is H or a 1-8C alkyl; R3 is the same as R1 or a 1-18C alkoxy) is compounded.
