PURPOSE: To finish the surface of a stainless steel deformed pipe efficiently into the high mirror like surface.
CONSTITUTION: The side face of a stainless steel deformed pipe 2 is made flat by cutting and rough-polished by a polishing brush 3. The surface of the rectangular pipe 2 is then finish-polished into the mirror like surface state. It is desirable to incline the polishing brush 3 at an angle of 5-25° to the rectangular pipe 2. A brush used as the polishing brush 3 is formed by mixing abrasive grain in brush material having a melting point of 250°C or higher and holding the strength of 50% or more compared to the initial state at the time of being used for 100 hours at 250°C or higher. The rectangular pipe with the surface excellent in flatness so as to have no distortion generated to a projected image can be thereby obtained with few manhours.
