PURPOSE: To perform switching a strip path and correcting meandering by simple equipment by rotatably supporting a steering roll onto a movable frame, horizontally moved by a cylinder, through a swivel frame.

CONSTITUTION: In a condition that a strip 50 guided by a steering device 1 via n upper route from a preceding process is guided to a leftward process, in the case of guiding the strip 50 to a rightward process by changing a path, first a line is stopped, and the strip 50 is cut in a position of points P, Q, to remove the strip 50 during this interval. Next by a shift cylinder 2a, a movable frame 2 is moved to a right side and shifted till its right end hits a stopper 1d. In this way, a steering roll 5 supported onto a swivel frame 3 is moved to a position of dashed line. In this condition, the strip 50 is guided to the rightward process so as to pass a peripheral surface of the steering roll 5 from the left side to the lower side.
