PURPOSE: To greatly reduce a burden of an operator by finally inserting a stocking, which is temporarily applied on a foot pattern while it is resting, up to toe with a chucking means movable in a vertical direction.

CONSTITUTION: A group of foot patterns T are stopped in a spread state with equal intervals between each other short of a setting section of a stocking-finishing machine. Transferring means A is actuated to allow a chucking means E to move along a guide rail 10 and stop at the head T of the group of the foot patterns. A stocking 8 is temporarily applied on the foot pattern 7 by an operator, the foot pattern 7 is exactly located by a positioning means F and the lower chuck C is inserted between foot patterns T by a rotary means D. Subsequently, an elevating means B is actuated, the open part of the temporarily applied stocking 8 is held by the lower chuck C, a higher part than the open part of the stocking 8 is held by the middle chuck C and the heel part of the stocking 8 is held by the upper chuck C respectively together with the foot pattern 7. Then, a stroke-supporting device G is actuated and the upper chuck C is lowered to insert the stocking 8 up to the toe of the foot pattern 7. After that, every chuck C is released and returned to each original position to complete the insertion process.
