PURPOSE: To improve the operability of a touch type coordinate input device by forming a touch operation area for four electrode faces, inclining the area upward to the outside and arranging an edge frame member provided with an inclined face continued to the touch operation area.

CONSTITUTION: A circular electrode plate 3 is provided with four electrode faces 31 to 34 obtained by dividing the plate 3 in its peripheral direction and electrically insulated from each other and these electrode faces 31 to 34 are shaped like fans whose width gradually narrowed in the direction to the center part of the plate 3. The faces 31 to 34 are arranged so as to be mutually butted on the center part of the plate 3 and built in an insulating member 2. The member 2 is provided with a ring-like projection edge part 21 forming a touch operation area 10 and an inclined face 22 inclined upward in the outside direction and arranged continuously to the area 10. Consequently finger F handling operation can easily be executed and fine handling operability can be obtained.
