NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R1 is γ-L-glutamyl, L-leucyl, L-alanyl, cystyl, L-prolyl or L-arginyl; R2 and R3 are H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, amino, hydroxy, carboxyl, sulfonic acid, nitro, hydroxyalkyl, carboxyalkyl or surfoalkyl) or salt thereof.
EXAMPLE: γ-L-Glutamyl-3-chloro-4-carboxyanilide.
USE: A substrate for measuring enzyme activity.
PREPARATION: γ-Carboxyl group of L-glutamic acid or α-carboxyl group of L-leucine is subjected to condensation reaction with an aniline derivative to provide the compound expressed by formula I. A peptidase contained in the liquid to be tested is added and reacted with the resultant amide compound expressed by formula I and then 4-aminobenzoic acid hydroxidase and reducing type coenzyme are added and reacted with the liberated aminobenzoic acid expressed by formula II or derivative thereof to measure a peptidase activity.
