PURPOSE: To stabilize static charge characteristic and to improve the reliability of an electrifying roll by providing a surface layer containing polyvinylbutyral resin and an isocyanate compound on a semiconductive elastic layer formed on a conductive supporting body.
CONSTITUTION: In the electrifying roll 101, the semiconductive elastic layer 103 is concentrically and integrally formed on a conductive core bar 102 and a non-tacky surface layer 104 is formed on the elastic layer 103. A material such as iron or a stainless steel is used the core bar 102 and the elastic layer 103 is molded into roller state around the core bar 102 by using epichlorohydrine rubber with steam vulcanizing method or metallic molding method. And the surface layer 104 is formed by using mainly polyvinylbutyral resin and isocyanate, melamine resin or the like is used as a cross-linking reaction material with polyvinylbutyral. Thus, the sticking of unfavorable foreign matters such as the toner to the surface of the electrifying roll is reduced and the initial chargeability is kept over a long term.
