Abstract:

PURPOSE: To concentrate tellurium at high efficiency with a simple operation by treating zinc or lead dross containing tellurium with an aqueous acetic acid solution.

CONSTITUTION: Zinc or lead dross containing tellurium occurring in lead or zinc blast furnace smelting is pulverized and added to an aqueous acetic acid solution of about 5% concentration to give a solid content below 50 g/liter, and heated to above 80°C to dissolve zinc or lead in the dross. Thus, tellurium is concentrated in the remainder.
