Abstract:

To provide a tension adjustment method for an accessory driving belt and its device having simple construction for preventing the slippage and sagging of the belt and reducing friction by securing the tension of the belt when starting and normally operating an engine.

The method comprises a first step of holding a first auto tensioner 14a abutting on the belt 6 on the slack side of a driving pulley 2 in a locked condition and holding a second auto tensioner 14b abutting on the belt 6 on the slack side of a starting pulley in a free condition when driving the driving pulley 2 with the starting pulley 1 and a second step of holding the second auto tensioner 14b in a locked condition and holding the first auto tensioner 14a in a free condition when driving the starting pulley 1 with the driving pulley 2.
