Abstract:

To provide a terahertz electromagnetic wave light source which radiates terahertz electromagnetic waves from a semiconductor in a magnetic field and which can produce a high-intensity output and can be further miniaturized.

The terahertz electromagnetic wave light source 1 includes a small fiber laser 11 for outputting a laser beam having a central wavelength of 1,560 nm, an indium/antimony(InSb)-based semiconductor sample 12, and a general-purpose magnet 13 which can generate a magnetic field having an intensity of at least 2 terahertz. When a laser beam having a spot size of 2 mm is irradiated onto the semiconductor sample 12 from the small fiber laser 11 and when the magnetic field of the magnet 13 is applied thereto, terahertz electromagnetic waves are radiated from the sample 12.
