Abstract:

PURPOSE: To form a smooth and uniform fluorescent layer even to the bent part of a glass tube, by preventing the collection of excessive fluorescent suspension poured into a U-shaped glass tube at the bent part, thereby preventing the formation of a thicker part in the fluorescent layer.

CONSTITUTION: The saddle-shaped glass tube 15 having the extended openings 4, 13, 14 at the bent part is held with a holder directing an end A, the other end B and the extended opening 4 upward. The extended openings 13, 14 are connected to the nozzles 16, 17, respectively, and compressed air F is introduced through the opening 20 into the tank 19 containing the suspension of a fluorescent material. The suspension 18 is transferred through the nozzles 16, 17 into the saddle- shaped glass tube 15 by the pressure of the air. When the suspension reaches the predetermined level, the supply of the compressed air is stopped, and the fluorescent suspension 18 in the glass tube 15 is exhausted through the nozzles 16, 17 to the tank 18 leaving the fluorescent suspension layer on the inner surface of the glass tube 15. The layer is dried to obtain the objective fluorescent layer.
