Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture easily a uniform thin filmlike positive electrode of titanium disulfide with a simple apparatus by reacting a thin film of alginate formed on an electrically conductive substrate with titanium sulfate and by reacting the resulting thin film of titanium alginate with hydrogen sulfide to form a thin film of titanium disulfide.

CONSTITUTION: An aqueous soln. of sodium alginate is applied to an electrically conductive substrate to form a thin film. The substrate is immersed in an about 5W20wt% soln. of titanium sulfate in dil. sulfuric acid to react the thin film with titanium sulfate. By the reaction a thin film of titanium alginate is formed, and produced sodium sulfate is removed. The substrate is further immersed in an aqueous soln. of hydrogen sulfide to react the thin film of titanium alignate with hydrogen sulfide. By the reaction a thin film of titanium disulfide is formed, and produced alginic acid is removed. Thus, a thin filmlike positive electrode of titanium disulfide is easily obtd., and ≥about 5μm arbitrary thickness can be provided to the electrode.
