PURPOSE: To fit a preshoot and overshoot to contour in the vertical direction by supplying image signals to a delay line with a delay time during one horizontal scanning period through a signal composite means and by mixing output signals of this delay line with image signals.

CONSTITUTION: A feedback circuit by a subtraction circuit 35 and amplifier 36 is arranged between an output terminal of an H delay line 33 and an input terminal of the other part of an addition circuit 32, which allows addition of the output of line 33 and the output of an amplifier 37 to obtain a vertical contour correction signal whose preshoot and overshoot are added to an output terminal 38.
