PURPOSE: To record and reproduce fine audio signals with a flying erase head by applying a signal obtained by mixing a signal other than a video signal with an erase signal to the flying erase head.

CONSTITUTION: An audio signal is FM-modulated by an FM modulator 8, the modulated signal is mixed with a signal from an erase signal generator 6 by a mixer 9, the mixed signal is amplified by an amplifier 10, and the amplified signal is supplied to heads 4, 5 through slip rings or rotary transformers 11, 12. If 10MHz FM carrier frequency is set up lower than the frequency of an erase signal, an audio signal obtained by FM-modulating the erase signal efficiently by an effect equal to the AC bias of a tape recorder is recorded. The recorded video signal is immediately erased by the erase signal. Subsequently, a video signal is superposed to a track on which the FM-modulated audio signal is recorded by using video heads 2, 3.
