USE: A blue type dyestuff for a liquid crystal display element of the guest-host type, polarized light film, etc.
PROCESS: For example, a dibromo derivative of an anthraquinone compound (e.g., 1,5-diamino-4,8-dioxy-3,7-dibromoanthraquinone, etc.) shown by the formula IV is reacted with a phenol derivative shown by the formula V optionally in the presence of a solvent in the presence of deoxidizer under heating.
