NEW MATERIAL:Azo compounds of formulaIwherein D is a group of formula II, III, IV, V or VI; Y1 is H, OH, (lower alkoxy-substd.) alkyl; Y2, Y3 are each H, CN, OH, (lower alkoxy- or dialkylamino-substd.) alkyl, aryl; A is CH2, CH2CH2; n is 0, 1; R1 is NO2, CN, acetyl, benzoly; R2, R3 are each H, halogen; R4 is H, lower alkyl, halogen; R5, R6 are each H, halogen, lower alkyl.

USE: Reactive azo dyes which dye cellulose fiber and mixed fiber of polyester fiber and cellulose fiber orange to blue with excellent fastness to light.

PREPARATION: A compound of formula VII (wherein D, A, Y1, n are as defined above) is reacted with a compound of formula VIII (wherein Y2, Y3 are as defined above) in a solvent such as N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone to produce the desired compound of formulaI.
