Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the title refractory improved in corrosion and sublimation resistance at elevated temperatures by incorporating a specified amount of a carbonaceous material in a mixture comprising MgO-CaO clinker with CaO distributed on periclase crystal grain boundary and magnesia clinker at specified proportion.

CONSTITUTION: The objective refractory can be obtained by incorporating (A) 100 pts.wt. of a mixture of (1) 30-70wt.% of MgO-CaO clinker and (2) 70-30wt.% of magnesia clinker with (B) 3-40 pts.wt. of a carbonaceous material. Said MgO-CaO clinker is 1-10wt.% in CaO content and ≥150μm in the size of periclase crystal grains, having a structure with CaO distributed on the periclase crystal grain boundary. The present refractory will cause no degradation of corrosion resistance to low basic slag at elevated temperatures, also being excellent in sublimation resistance.
