To shorten the drive rods of trunnions by storing a hydraulic controller and a hydraulic drive section in the casing of a toroidal continuously variable transmission(CVT), and arranging a precessing cam transferring the inclined rotation of the trunnions to the hydraulic controller on the side facing the hydraulic drive section.
The hydraulic drive section of a toroidal CVT is provided with two cylinder units inserted with hydraulic pistons 12 in cylinder chambers, and the hydraulic pistons 12 are coupled with one-end sections of inclined rotary shafts 7 provided on two adjacent trunnions 6 of a trunnion set via drive rods 13. The hydraulic drive section and a hydraulic controller are stored in the casing of the toroidal CVT, a precessing cam 18 transferring the inclined rotation of the trunnion 6 around the inclined rotary shafts 7 to the hydraulic controller is arranged on the side facing the hydraulic drive section across the trunnions 6, thereby the drive rods 13 of the trunnions 6 are shortened in length.
