PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upward continuous casting method and an upward continuous casting apparatus capable of improving the degree of freedom for the sectional shape of a casting.SOLUTION: An upward continuous casting apparatus according to one aspect of the present invention is an upward continuous casting apparatus comprising: a molten-metal holding furnace 101 holding molten metal M1; and a shape stipulation member 102 installed on a molten metal level of the molten metal M3 and stipulating a sectional shape of a casing M3 to be cast by passing held molten metal M2 withdrawn from the molten metal level through the shape stipulation member 102, the shape stipulation member 102 including internal shape stipulation plates 1041 and 1042 that can contact each other or separate from each other, and an internal shape stipulation plate 1043 that is a coupling member coupling the internal shape stipulation plates 1041 and 1042 with each other, the sectional shape of the casting M3 to be cast being stipulated by the internal shape stipulation plates 1041 and 1042 and the internal shape stipulation plate 1043 if the internal shape stipulation plates 1041 and 1042 separate from each other.
