Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a video display device where an angle of convergence is set to be suitable for stereoscopic observation and the inclination of the image surface of the virtual image of a video displayed on a liquid crystal display element is reduced.
CONSTITUTION: This video display device is equipped with a video display element (LCD) 1 displaying a video, a lenticular lens 5 for distributing video luminous fluxes from the LCD 1 to the left and the right eyeballs of an observer, and an ocular optical system 4 enlarging and projecting the video luminous fluxes distributed to the left and the right to the left and the right eyeballs. The optical axis of the ocular optical system 4 is a line L, passing through the center of the LCD 1 and orthogonally crossing the LCD 1, and the optical system 4 has a pair of left and right aperture parts 3L and 3R corresponding to the left and the right eyeballs 2L and 2R. Since the LCD 1 and the optical system 4 are arranged on the same axis, the virtual image of the video on the LCD 1 is also formed in the state where it is not inclined on the same axis. Since a prism is not used in the device, chromatic aberration is not caused.
