To provide a video processing apparatus and a video processing method, that can perform deinterlacing processing while hardly causing deterioration in image quality without reference to the kind of an interlace signal, and to provide a display device.
A deinterlacing processing unit 12 calculates a difference value FD and correlation values Vpc and Vcn with respect to three fields of an input video signal succeeding along the time base, and compares the large/small relation between the correlation values Vpc and Vcn according to the difference value FD to decide which of video deinterlacing processing and pull-down reverse conversion processing is applied. Assuming "Y', Z, Z'" as the three fields, when the difference value FD is large, image correlation between the fields (Z, Z') obtained by conversion from the same source image is high and image correlation between the fields (Y', Z) obtained by conversion from different source images is low. The fields Z and Z' are specified as a pull-down pair and the pull-down reverse conversion processing can be performed.
