To provide methods for treating viral hepatitis, compounds useful for treating viral hepatitis, and pharmaceutical compositions comprising such compounds.
The method for treating patients suffering from hepatitis C includes to administer a therapeutically effective amount of a compound selected from nitazoxanide, tizoxanide, nitazoxanide derivatives and tizoxanide derivatives, or mixtures thereof to the patients. The method for treating patients suffering from hepatitis C comprises (a) pre-treatment of the patients by administering a first composition containing the effective amount of the compound selected from nitazoxanide, tizoxanide, nitazoxanide derivatives and tizoxanide derivatives, or mixtures thereof to the patients for a predetermined period of time; (b) administration of the effective amount of a second composition containing an active agonist to the patients after the predetermined period of time.
