Abstract:

To efficiently remove the integral coating of a coated optical fiber ribbon without damaging the coated optical fibers therein.

A working table 10 having a plane part 10a at its front surface and having a curved part 10b connected to its end is used and a tacky adhesive material 11 is stuck onto this working table 10 from the plane part to the curved part of the working table 10. The coated optical fiber ribbon 5 divided with the integral coating 4 at its terminal part is pressed and stuck to the tacky adhesive material 11 of the working table 10 by locating the terminal of the coated optical fiber ribbon 5 to the curved part side of the working table 10. The one surface part 4b of the integral coating at the terminal part of the coated optical fiber ribbon and at least the coated optical fibers among the coated optical fibers 3 in the coated optical fiber ribbon are clamped. While this clamping part is pulled in a terminal direction, the clamping part is pulled up in a direction parting from the working table 10, by which the dividing and peeling of the integral coating of the coated optical fiber ribbon 5 are progressed and the one surface part 4a of the integral coating is removed. In succession, the coated optical fiber ribbon 5 is turned over and another one surface part 4b is similarly subjected to peeling and removing.
