Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter vent device capable of holding radioactive iodine underwater in a scrubbing container for a long time.SOLUTION: Scrubbing water 12 containing many platinum oxide nanoparticles 33 is filled into a vent tank 11 of a filter vent device 10. A filter 13 is disposed above the water level of the scrubbing water 12 in the vent tank 11. One end of an inlet pipe 14 including a separation valve 15 is dipped into the scrubbing water 12, and the other end of the inlet pipe 14 is made to communicate with a wet well of a containment vessel. When a severe accident occurs, gas containing radioactive iodine Iand hydrogen is discharged from the wet well to the scrubbing water 12 through the inlet pipe 14. The radioactive iodine Iis converted into Iby an action of the hydrogen and the platinum of the platinum oxide nanoparticles 33. The generated Iis stably held in the scrubbing water 12 for a long time.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
