Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical conduction element for generating or detecting a terahertz wave, which can be manufactured more easily.SOLUTION: An optical conduction element 1 comprises a topological insulator membrane 11 containing at least one of antimony (Sb) and bismuth (bi) and at least one of selenium (Se) and tellurium (Te). Thus, the optical conduction element can be manufactured at low cost. The optical conduction element 1 further comprises an antenna structure ANT including electrodes 12 and 13. The electrodes 12 and 13 are disposed oppositely in a surface direction of the topological insulator membrane 11. The optical conduction element 1 is capable of generating (or detecting) the terahertz wave by using a carrier that is generated by making light (femto-second pulse light 91) incident to the topological insulator membrane 11.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
