BACKGOUNDOF INVENTION

[03] Many individuals around the world are exposed to many environmental contaminants daily through air pollution, foods and drinks contaminated with toxic materials such as pesticides and Other harmful chemicals. Air pollution creates many harmful materials such as ozone (Ok), sulfur dioxide (SOz), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), benzo[a]pyrene and suspended particulate matter (PM). These contaminants are harmful to our important organs causing respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease as well as damage to the liver.

[04] There is a report describing air pollution alone causing around seven million deaths a year worldwide. Considering growth of the population as well as the way in which we consume energy through transportation or heating and air conditioning systems, among others, we do not expect the emission of huge quantities of gases that are harmful to our health would come down. In addition, pathogenic microbes that ran be directly spread through contaminated water cause digestive diseases resulting in 1.5 million deaths each year, mostly in young children. The usual cause of death is dehydration due to diarrhea. Most cases of diarrheal illness and death occur in developing countries because of unsafe water, poor sanitation, and insufficient hygiene. Other waterborne diseases can cause skin infections and organ damage. [ 05] Long-term exposure to polluted air may cause respiratory diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema and possibly cancer. Ingested contaminants including viruses may cause liver diseases such as cirrhosis, hepatitis and possibly cancer. In addition, contaminants absorbed into systemic circulation may reach the heart causing heart diseases such as ischemic heart disease and stroke.

[06] Currently there is no viable prophylactic medical treatment option to prevent or reduce the health risk associated with the above environmental contaminants that goes beyond just acute treatment for lung and respiratory diseases and also provides clinical benefits for cardiovascular disease, skin disease as well as damage to the liver. The present invention provides herbal supplement approach to detoxify daily the environmental contaminants absorbed into our body, especially the respiratory system and liver, and strengthen the health of the respiratory system and liver.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[08] Respiratory Herb Group

[09] The respiratory system can be an entry point for various contaminants including harmful chemicals, dust, mold, fungus, harmful organisms and other toxins. These contaminants may cause various respiratory diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (CO PD), emphysema and lung cancer. Unfortunately, currently there is very little prophylactic method for avoiding these serious diseases caused by die contaminants. The inventor believes that nature may provide a number of herbs for detoxifying the contaminants daily and strengthening the respiratory system. These herbs may support the respiratory system by providing the following benefits:

[10] · Breaking up and expelling chest congestion including some contaminants

[11] · Soothing irritated nasal passages and airways

[12] · Relaxing the muscles near the upper respiratory system to reduce a cough

[13] · Reducing the release of histamines

[14] · Fighting the harmful organisms that can cause upper respiratory problems

[15] · Providing source of antioxidants and reducing oxidative damage

[16] Oregano (oreganum vulgare) is mostly known for its use in the kitchen as a spice.

Besides having nutrients that boost the body’s immune system, it also contains two substances, carvacrol and rosmarinic acid, which have anti-histamine and expectorant properties helping to eliminate the uncomfortable buildups of mucus and phlegm in die respiratory tracts and sinuses. It also soothes inflamed lungs and throat, which often cause coughs. The main active ingredient, carvacrol, also has an anti-bacterial and anti-viral effect to prevent bacterial and viral infection. Carvacrol and other active substances in oregano are antioxidants and known to prevent cancer. The present invention can use any form of oregano including dried piece, tea, powder, liquid extract (essential oil) and tincture. In a preferred embodiment, the present invention uses a standardized liquid extract (essential oil ) which contains more than 70% of carvacrol.

[17] Native to Australia, eucalyptus (eucalyptus globulus) has been used to promote respiratory health and soothe throat irritation. Eucalyptus contains cineole which is an expectorant and can ease a cough, fight congestion and soothe sinus passage. Eucalyptus also contains antioxidants which support the immune system during various illnesses. The preseat invention can use any form of eucalyptus including dried piece, tea, powder, liquid extract (essential oil) and tincture. In a preferred embodiment, the present invention uses a standardized liquid extract (essential oil) which contains more than 70% of cineble.

[18] There are many other well-known herbs for detoxifying the contaminants daily and strengthening the respiratory system such as catnip, chaparral, coltsfoot, elecampane, eucalyptus, evening prim rose, hawthorn, horehound, hyssop, lobelia, lungwort, mullein, oregano, osha root, peppermint and plantain leaf.

[19] Liver Herb Group

[20] The liver is actually our largest and important internal organ and responsible for performing a number of essential detoxifying functions. The condition of our blood throughout pur whole body is mostly reliant on the health of our liver. As a blood purifier, the li ver needs to actively clean foe blood constantly in order to support nearly every system within our body. Unfortunately, with ail of foe environmental contaminants which most of us encounter and absorb into our bodies on a daily basis, it is very easy for the liver to become ill itself. For this reason, it is crucial to protect the liver by removing the contaminants out of the liver and subsequently out of the body. There are many herbs known for detoxifying various

contaminants and strengthening foe liver. These herbs may support the liver by providing the following benefits:

[21] · Detoxifying harmful contaminants in the blood including alcohol, pesticides in food supply, heavy metals in water supply and particulate matter (PM) in air pollution
