Abstract:
When an intermittent sound condition is fulfilled, which is a state where an index value having a correlation with the likelihood of contact between a target and a vehicle is less than or equal to a first threshold value and greater than a second threshold value that is lower than the first threshold value, this alert sound output device causes an alert sound emission unit to emit an intermittent sound pattern having a prescribed alert sound output time and an alert sound stop time. If a continuous sound condition of the index value being less than or equal to the second threshold value is fulfilled, the alert sound output device causes the alert sound emission unit to emit a continuous sound pattern wherein emission of the alert sound is continuous without being stopped. If the intermittent sound condition is fulfilled, the alert sound output device shortens the stop time by increments of a prescribed gap as the index value decreases, and sets the stop time when the index value fulfilling the intermittent sound condition reaches a minimum to be longer than the prescribed gap.
