Title:
BRIGHTNESS IMPROVEMENT FILM, OPTICAL SHEET MEMBER, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2015/122479
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention provides a brightness improvement film having a λ/4 plate and a reflective polarizer, wherein: the reflective polarizer contains a first light-reflecting layer and a second light-reflecting layer, in this order from the λ/4-plate side thereof; the first light-reflecting layer and the second light-reflecting layer are both light-reflecting layers obtained by fixing a cholesteric liquid crystal phase; the first light-reflecting layer or the second light-reflecting layer is a layer formed from a polymerizable liquid crystal composition containing a rod-shaped liquid crystal compound; and the other light-reflecting layer is a layer formed from a polymerizable liquid crystal composition containing a disc-shaped liquid crystal compound. The present invention also provides an optical sheet member containing the brightness improvement film, and a liquid crystal display device containing the optical sheet member. When incorporated into a liquid crystal display device, this brightness improvement film exhibits a high degree of brightness and is capable of suppressing changes in color at an oblique angle.
