Abstract:

Provided is a cell imaging device and a cell imaging method both for taking images of a group of cells that have periodic movement in multiple imaging areas, then placing the images in proper alignment and then putting the images together to produce one composite image of the cells. According to the device and the method, it becomes possible to align the shapes of the cells located at joint parts properly to produce a high-quality composite image as an image to be evaluated. The cell imaging device is equipped with an imaging section 10 which can take images of a group of cells, composed of multiple cells and having periodic movement, in varied imaging areas, a phase information acquisition section 21 in which information on the timing at which cells become in the same phase in the individual cycles in the periodic movement can be acquired, and a composite image production section 22 in which the images taken in the individual imaging areas are placed in proper alignment to produce a composite image, wherein images of cells in the same phase in each of the imaging areas are taken on the basis of the information on the timing at which cells become in the same phase in the imaging section 10, and the images of the cells in the same phase are placed in proper alignment to produce the composite image in the composite image production section 22.
