Abstract:
Provided is a small-diameter chalcogenide glass material which exhibits excellent weather resistance and mechanical strength and is suitable as an optical element in an infrared sensor. The chalcogenide glass material is characterized by being a columnar chalcogenide glass material with an unpolished lateral face and a diameter of 15 mm or less, having a composition including 40 to 90% S+Se+Te in mol%, and having no striae 500 μm or longer present in the glass material.
