Abstract:
Provided is a method for evaluating a color filter having multi-colored display pixels
of at least three colors on a substrate. A continuous light including a wavelength
λ of a transmitting light peak region in a range from 380 nm to 780 nm is applied
to each of the colored display pixels from an arbitrary angle so as to measure a
phase difference Δ(λ) by using a spectral elipsometer. The spectral
transmittance of the colored display pixel in the range of 380 nm to 780 nm is assumed
to be T(λ). The value ξ1 obtained by the expression (1)
given below for each of the colored display pixels is used to judge the oblique-direction
visibility of a liquid crystal display device having the color filter.
