Provided are: a compound represented by general formula (1) (In the formula, R1 is an alkyl group or an alkenyl group, etc., A1 and A2 are a 1,4-cyclohexylene group or a 1,4-phenylene group, etc., Z1 and Z2 are -CH2O, etc., Y1, Y2 and Y3, and Y4 are a hydrogen atom, a fluorine atom or a chlorine atom, A3 is a 1,4-phenylene group, etc., and m and n are 0 or 1.); a liquid crystal composition comprising said compound; a liquid crystal display element using said liquid crystal composition; a method for producing the compound represented by general formula (1); and compounds represented by general formula (4) and general formula (5) which are raw materials used in said production method.
