Abstract:
The present disclosure pertains to a decoding device, a decoding method, an encoding device, and an encoding method, with which the color gamut of an image to be encoded can be recognized accurately on the decoding side. A reception unit receives an encoded stream, which contains encoded data for an image and color gamut information indicating the color gamut of the image, from an encoding device transmitting the encoded stream. An extraction unit extracts the encoded data and the color gamut information from the encoded stream. A decoding unit decodes the encoded data and generates the image. The present disclosure can be applied to a decoding device or the like using a high efficiency video coding (HEVC) method, for example.
