Abstract:
A diamond polycrystal having such a property that, in a Knoop hardness test carried out under conditions prescribed in JIS Z 2251:2009, the value of the ratio of a' to a, i.e., (a'/a), is 0.99 or less, wherein a represents the length of a longer one of diagonal lines in a first Knoop flaw which is formed on the surface of the diamond polycrystal when a Knoop indenter is pressed at a test load of 4.9 N against the surface of the diamond polycrystal, and a' represents the length of a longer one of diagonal lines in a second Knoop flaw which remains on the surface of the diamond polycrystal after the release of the test load from the diamond polycrystal.
