Abstract:
A driving assist control device (ECU) 10 which is capable of controlling a vehicle 1 by using a driving assist mode selected by a driver from among a plurality of driving assist modes, and is configured so as to: repeatedly calculate over time target travel routes (R1-R3) along which the vehicle 1 is to travel; execute a control for causing the vehicle 1 to travel along a target travel route during a prescribed driving assist mode (preceding vehicle-following mode); and prohibit a transition to the prescribed driving assist mode even when the driver selects the prescribed driving assist mode, when the current location of the vehicle 1 has deviated in a lateral direction from the target travel route by more than a prescribed distance dth.
