Abstract:
This electric power steering apparatus 100 is equipped with: an assist basic instruction value calculation unit 31 which calculates an assist basic instruction value on the basis of a steering torque; a limit value calculation unit 42 which calculates a limit value of the assist basic instruction value on the basis of a steering angle and a vehicle speed; and a motor control unit 32 which controls the driving of an electric motor 10 on the basis of the assist instruction value calculated using the assist basic instruction value and the limit value. The limit value calculation unit 42 calculates a limit value so as to decrease the assist instruction value if the steering angle exceeds a limit start steering angle Ax near the maximum steering angle Az in response to the turning of a steering wheel 1. The limit start steering angle Ax is set so as to decrease with increasing vehicle speed.
