Abstract:
This end mill is provided with: an end mill body (1) rotated, around an axis line (O) in the rotary direction of the end mill; and a cutting blade (5) having an outer peripheral cutting edge (6) formed on the outer periphery of the tip of the end mill body (1). In the outer peripheral cutting edge (6), a cross-section, along the axis line (O) of the rotary trajectory around the axis line (O) has the shape of a convex curve convex toward the outer periphery side of the end mill body (1), the radius of curvature (R) of the convex curve is greater than the half of the outer diameter (D) of the cutting blade (5) and no greater than 3 times the outer diameter, the center (C) of the convex curve is located on the opposite side from the outer peripheral cutting edge (6) with the axis line (O) therebetween, the outer peripheral cutting edge (6) twists toward the opposite side from the rotary direction of the end mill as the outer peripheral cutting edge (6) approaches the rear end side of the end mill body (1), and the twist angle of the outer peripheral cutting edge (6) is at least 20º and the radial rake angle of the outer peripheral cutting edge (6) is -20º to 0º inclusive.
