Abstract:
A male pipe joint is adapted so as not to be subjected to the resistance of the inner pressure in the female pipe joint when inserted into a female pipe joint and so as not to jump out due to the inner pressure in the female pipe joint when pulled out of the female pipe joint. A female pipe joint is provided with an upstream-side pipe-like member (14), a valve unit (26), a valve holding member (40), an intermediate pipe-like member (52), a male pipe joint receiving pipe-like member (60), a pressing member (70), and an engaging member (80). When a male pipe joint (12) is inserted into the male pipe joint receiving pipe-like member and further inserted into the male pipe joint receiving pipe-like member while being engaged with and pushing the intermediate pipe-like member, locking members (62) are aligned with a locking member receiving recess (12a) in the male pipe joint, the pressing member is disengaged from the intermediate pipe-like member, which has been pushed in by the male pipe joint, to press the locking members, the intermediate pipe-like member comes to an outside air communication interrupting position at which the intermediate pipe-like member forms a communication space (56) between the intermediate pipe-like member and the valve unit, and the engaging member is disengaged from the valve holding member to permit the valve holding member to come to a downstream-side release position.
