A fiber treatment agent according to the present invention contains a copolymer (X), a polyepoxy compound (Y) that does not comprise an ethylenically unsaturated bond and does comprise at least two epoxide groups per molecule, and an aqueous medium (Z). (X) comprises a structural unit (a) derived from a (meth)acrylic acid ester (A) and a structural unit (b) derived from an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid (B). (a) comprises a structural unit (a1) derived from a hydrophilic (meth)acrylic acid ester (A1) in which an alcohol-derived moiety comprises no more than two carbon atoms, and may comprise a structural unit (a2) derived from a (meth)acrylic acid ester (A2) other than (A1). (Y) accounts for 1-40 mass%, (b) accounts for 0.1-10 mass%, (a1) accounts for 10-98 mass%, and (a2) accounts for 0-70 mass% with respect to the total mass of (X) and (Y).
