Abstract:
Provided is a food contact member that exhibits fouling resistance, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and antimicrobial effects and is not liable to lead to food contamination or generation of harmful gas. Also provided is a surface treatment method thereof. In the present invention, substantially spherical shots having a grain size of #220 to #880 (JIS R6001-1973) and a hardness equal to or greater than the surface hardness of a food contact member made of or containing a metal are blasted at a blasting pressure of 0.2 MPa or greater to impact a part of the food contact member to be contacted with a food. This causes an instantaneous local increase in the temperature of the impacted area, thereby refining the surface structure and forming a large number of arc-shaped smooth recesses on the entire surface of the food contact member. Additionally, powder of titanium or a titanium alloy having a grain size of #100-#800 (JIS R6001-1973) is blasted at a blasting pressure of 0.2 MPa or greater to the surface to cause titanium oxide, which serves as a photocatalyst or a semiconductor catalyst, to diffuse and penetrate the vicinity of the surface to be contacted with a food, thereby imparting fouling resistance, corrosion resistance, wear resistance and antimicrobial effects.
