Abstract:
To provide a gas diffusion electrode substrate having a high thermal conductivity even with a low density and having excellent handleability and power generation performance, there is provided a gas diffusion electrode substrate which includes a carbon fiber felt composed of carbon fibers having an average fiber diameter of 5-20 μm, wherein at least a portion of the carbon fibers constituting the carbon fiber felt has a flat portion where the maximum fiber diameter is observed 10-50% thicker than the average fiber diameter, when viewing the carbon fiber felt surface from the top, and the number of the flat portions on the surface of the carbon fiber felt is 50-200/mm2.
