Abstract:
According to the present invention, a backlight device (12) is provided with: an LED (15); a light guide plate (17) that has an end surface facing the LED (15) and serving as a light entrance end surface (17a) allowing light to enter, and of which one of the pair of the plate surfaces serves as a light exit plate surface (17b); a light collection part (22) comprising a plurality of unit light collection parts (22a) which extend on the light exit plate surface (17b) in a normal-line direction of the light entrance end surface (17a), and which are arranged side-by-side in a direction orthogonal to the normal-line direction; a light entrance opposite end (23) which is an end of the light guide plate (17) on the side opposite to the light entrance end surface (17a), and at least a portion of the end surface of which is formed as a curved end surface (24) having a curved planar shape; and a total reflection restriction part (25) which is disposed at least in a portion of the curved end surface (24), and which restricts the light within the light entrance opposite end (23) from being totally reflected at the curved end surface (24).
