Abstract:
An imaging device (1) according to this disclosure comprises an imaging unit (2), a signal separation unit (5), a normal calculation unit (6), and a distance estimation unit (7). The imaging unit (2) is provided with: a plurality of polarized light sources (21–24) for which the directions of polarization of light radiated onto a subject differ; and a polarization sensor (11). The imaging unit captures images of the subject simultaneously irradiated with light from the plurality of polarized light sources (21–24). for which the directions of polarization of light radiated onto a subject differ The signal separation unit (5) produces an image for each direction of polarization by separating, from the image captured by the imaging unit (2), pixel signals corresponding to the respective directions of polarization. The normal calculation unit (6) calculates normals to a surface of the subject by the photometric stereo method on the basis of the images for the each of the directions of polarization. The distance estimation unit (7) estimates the shape of the subject on the basis of the normals calculated by the normal calculation unit (6).
