Abstract:
An imaging device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a photoelectric conversion unit that converts incident light into an electrical charge; and a detection unit that detects the electrical charge generated by the photoelectric conversion unit. The photoelectric conversion unit is equipped with a plurality of photodiodes that are arranged in a matrix pattern. The detection unit is equipped with a plurality of TFTs that are provided so as to correspond to the plurality of photodiodes and are arranged in a matrix pattern. The photodiodes are each equipped with a lower electrode, a semiconductor layer, and an upper electrode. At a peripheral section of the semiconductor layer, an insulating layer is provided between at least part of the lower electrode in the thickness direction, and the semiconductor layer. An end section of the insulating layer has a tapered shape in which a lower surface and a side surface of the insulating layer form an acute angle.
